Discover Utrecht Through the Eyes of Tinlicker
Dutch electronic giants Tinlicker have carved out a unique space between melodic house, progressive sounds, and live electronic performance. Now performing as a trio with UK singer, songwriter, and producer Hero Baldwin alongside Jordi van Achthoven and Micha Heyboer, the group continues to evolve their sonic identity.
Their latest album Dreams Of The Machine showcases this evolution, featuring standout track God In You — a deeply emotional, club-ready production driven by haunting vocals, layered breakbeats, and euphoric synth textures. It’s a sound that perfectly mirrors the balance between introspection and dancefloor energy.
But beyond global stages and festival crowds, Utrecht is where it all connects. This is their home base — a city that blends calm canals, creative spaces, and a quietly thriving cultural scene.
In this guide, Tinlicker share their personal Utrecht: from morning coffee rituals to nature escapes and creative hangouts.
Coffee & Slow Mornings in Utrecht
Koffieleute
Simply the best place to have a coffee — especially during the week in the early mornings. They serve great breakfast and lunch. And not to forget the lovely staff with their great taste in music. (Jordi)

Nature Escapes & Reset Moments
Landgoed Rhijnauwen
Sometimes a city is just too overwhelming. Right outside the city on the east side of Utrecht there is an area called Landgoed Rhijnauwen. A place for nice walks and peace and quiet. I go there almost daily to either jog or walk. There are also some spots for lunch and Dutch pancakes. (Jordi)

Creative Spaces & Local Culture
De Nijverheid
A quite unique place for Utrecht. And the fun thing is — it’s right next to our studio. A place to work, chill, have a drink with (or without) friends, dance and listen to music, or see art. It’s all there.

Exploring Utrecht Like a Local
Utrecht Canal Walk
This is a great walk to explore different parts of Utrecht. I often go for a walk along the Singel with friends. You’ll see beautiful architecture, trees, monuments, and benches to sit down, have an ice cream, or take a break. After so many years of living in Utrecht, it’s still a walk I enjoy. (Jordi)

Local Shopping & Style
Blackfish
This shop has been one of our favourites for many years. Since they opened, we’ve been frequent visitors. They have a great selection of clothes — from vintage to new. It’s actually where we bought many of the shirts we used to wear at our gigs. And the shop owners are lovely people.

Where to Eat in Utrecht
Sanju
A Japanese restaurant we often visit for a good bowl of ramen. It’s located on Voorstraat, right in the city centre. The ramen is excellent — especially the vegetarian option. Great atmosphere and lovely staff.

Why Utrecht?
Utrecht might not shout as loudly as Amsterdam, but that’s exactly its charm. It’s a city of balance — where creative energy meets calm daily rituals. For artists like Tinlicker, it offers space to think, create, and recharge.
And that’s what makes this guide special: it’s not about ticking off landmarks. It’s about experiencing Utrecht the way locals — and artists — actually live it.
