Day one started very early in Ibiza Town. After checking in at OD Hotel Talamanca and admiring the extraordinary puristic and nature based design the first thing you should do is to enjoy the sea view and the sand colored Ibiza town by having an abounded breakfast including local specialities and caviar. The design of the hotel was created by the couple owning the hotels in Ibiza and Mallorca.
Ibiza is famous for its beautiful blue and green shimmering sea. Kind of touristic and also famous beaches near Ibiza town can be found within a 15 minutes car ride, for example Sa Trinxa. Although Ibiza town is full of package holiday tourists who want to party in the countless clubs and bars, the old town still has its charm. The way up to the castle should definitely be on your list. The view is just amazing and we took the time to recharge our batteries or at least the ones of our smartphones.
Basically everything is maximum 1 hour by car on Ibiza. Most of the streets are asphalted. If you are looking for the secret spots like the mostly unknown northern ‘moon beach’ it is more fun to drive there by Jeep. Also make sure you stop by at the restaurant called Aubergine that offers organic food picked from the garden of the countryside between San Miguel and Santa Gertrudis.
Turn on the music…
‘Woomoon might change the way white isle promoters go about their business from now on.’
Clearly this one’s closing was on the top of our list. Among others Rampue, Satori, Blond:ish and Damian Lazarus filled the line-up with much energy. By clicking on this link you’ll get an impression of how amazing this party was. Not only the spirit, spherical atmosphere and chilled people but also the artistic shows created an iconic feeling. Much love in every single detail made this festival a very special experience.
What a coincidence we bumped into the private after party of the Woomoon organizers the next day at La Granja. A heavenly place you automatically fall in love with.
‘Among the honey-hued fields and moody pine forests of Ibiza’s pastoral islands sits La Granja, an enclave of pared-down relaxion and rural simplicity. La Granja serves as the clubhouse of friends of a farmer, an international organization forged around the cultivation of art, music and crops.’
We fully agree with this official description of La Granja and couldn’t describe it in a better way. We felt very blessed listening to Rampue and the other DJ’s in a relaxed atmosphere at the pool site, surrounded by nothing but peace and silence.
Not comparable but also musically amazing was the Mosaic party at Pacha. The party of Maceo Plex is also on Mixmag’s list of best new parties on Ibiza. And we can prove that! Current rumours say that Ushuaia is conquering the islands commercial capitalistic club scene and the long-established institution “Pacha Group” is for sale. We hope that the pure, authentic electronic parties will still be alive in the upcoming years. We got nearly shocked by the people in the crowd and the large-capacity club flair while visiting one of Carl Cox last sets at Space.
Our recommendation for the last night on Ibiza or even a holiday during winter is Can Guillem. The site belongs to the family since hundreds of years. In former times it was only a farm with some cattle sheds. They now rebuilt it and turned the house into a very quiet residence which is – other than most hotels on Ibiza – also open during winter season. The owner told us:
‘Ibicencos say summer time is for guest, winter time is for ourselves.’
The fruits, cheese and milk you get served for breakfast are still made on this site. As fresh as it can be.
What saved our life – or at least our smartphones and cameras batteries – were the Power Banks VARTA Consumer put in our suitcases. A helpful travel buddy also during festivals. Not only the sophisticated design of the Power Bank 5200 in silver and light blue but also the Safety Power Bank especially for girls and single travellers are of great benefit. Many thanks for your support and loading up our energy!
