French producer, songwriter and electro-pop architect Kid Francescoli released his seventh studio album, A Kind Wave, on 9 October via All Night Long / Believe France, available digitally and as a limited-edition vinyl and CD. The most intimate record of his career is an emotional journey about peaceful love, feeling at home anywhere with a partner, rediscovered summers, travel and healing.

Rooted in electro-pop yet reaching toward broader horizons, the album is inspired by travel, encounters and the euphoric feeling of life returning with the first days of summer in the South of France. For over a decade, Kid Francescoli has crafted a deeply evocative musical universe where vintage synths, contemplative electronics and emotional songwriting collide.

For tunes&wings, he shares his favourite places in Marseille, from bouillabaisse and real Marseille-style pizza to live music, cinema and the coastline he calls the heart of the city.

Where to Eat in Marseille

  • Paule & Kopa (Cours Estienne d’Orves): authentic Marseille specialities, and also a top pick for pizza.
  • Chez Michel (Les Catalans): the place for bouillabaisse.
  • Chez Étienne: the spot for real Marseille-style pizza.
  • Maison M&R (Les Catalans): great sandwiches, salads and desserts to take to the beach just next door.
  • Le Petit Plat: dinner next door to Le Chambord, ideally after a film.

Where to Drink Coffee in Marseille

  • Café Debout and Deep: favourite spots for a coffee.
  • Place Edmond Rostand (near the studio): good coffee all around the square.
  • L’Horloge (by the Vieux-Port): a coffee stop with a view of the harbour.

Where to Dance and Hear Live Music in Marseille

  • La Plaine: Baby, Vice Versa and Makeda are the places to go for music.
  • Théâtre de l’Œuvre (Belsunce): another go-to for live music.
  • Vieux-Port: head around the port and its legendary Trolleybus.

Marseille Nights Out: Concerts, Theatre and Cinema

  • Espace Julien: still my favourite venue in the city.
  • Théâtre de la Criée: a cultural pick for a night out.
  • Le Chambord: my favourite cinema, ideally followed by dinner at Le Petit Plat just next door.

Discover Marseille: The Corniche and the Coastline

  • La Corniche: my favourite walk in Marseille. “Unbeatable.”
  • The coastline from Les Catalans to Callelongue, including Frioul: for me, the sea is what represents Marseille.
  • The rocks at Petit Nice (Malmousque): a place with a special meaning for him, full of beautiful memories, though it has unfortunately become almost impossible to enjoy now.
