Sarah Nimmo’s UK Soundtrack: Iconic Places, Scenic Roads & Emotional Club Moments
London-born singer and songwriter Sarah Nimmo has always written music that feels inseparable from place, emotion and movement. Best known as the frontwoman of queer scene staple NIMMO, she now steps into her solo era with a voice that blends confessional lyricism, alt-pop energy and a deep love for the legacy of British pop. In this destination soundtrack, Sarah takes us on a journey across the UK, pairing meaningful places with music that mirrors their mood — from cosy pubs and wind-beaten coastlines to open-air clubs, scenic roads and the kind of cafés you stumble into and never forget. It’s a portrait of the UK as lived and felt, shaped by nightlife, quiet reflection and the spaces in between.
The timing couldn’t be more fitting: ‘I Still Miss You’, Sarah’s latest single and produced by Joseph Ashworth, captures the emotional core that also runs through this guide. Written in the aftermath of a shattering breakup, the synth-soaked power ballad balances dancefloor euphoria with devastating honesty, rooted in vulnerability and resilience. Much like this soundtrack-led journey, it’s about longing, release and finding beauty in transition — wherever you happen to be.
The Palm Tree Pub (Mile End)
A cash-only East End boozer still run by the original owners. An amazing swing classics covers band. The lead singer must be in his 80s and he’s still got it, a total crooner with an incredible vocal. He often covers this track and everyone has a real singalong. Such a unique spot.

Langland Bay, Mumbles - Wales
I spent every summer as a child here fishing for crabs, swimming in the freezing Welsh sea and eating ice cream on the rocks. Whenever I go back, I run along the beach and cliffs up to Gower. It’s one of the most peaceful, and I think special, places on earth. Last time I was there, I sat and watched the morning swimmers listening to this Carly Simon track, and it was epic.

Adonis at The Cause
Where all my friends are on a big night out. A time when I get to see almost everyone from my queer community, but also hang with some of my closest friends — one of them being one of the founders of this club. The music is amazing, the vibes are incredible and I always leave feeling somewhat healed (well, bruised, but my soul is healed). Job Jobse dropped this one at one of the summer parties and I’ll never forget it. The whole place went wild, me included.

The Prince Arthur, Dalston
This is a 10/10 pub. Everything that’s needed on tap and the best steak tartare I’ve ever eaten. This track by Neneh Cherry perfectly reflects the vibe of the pub: a kind of moody, dramatic and romantic ambience.

Kilburn High Road, London
The high street of the area I grew up in. An area of London that's proven unchangeable and unphased. People wear their madness here. The sun shines on the grocers, the rain hammers on the windows of the bookies, kids on bikes, adults in extended conversation, sturdy Irish men wait at the fishmongers. A pocket of cultural London. This is one of the tracks that soundtracked my teenage years.
Soundtrack: Song 702 - You Don’t know

Frank’s Canteen, Arsenal
Frank’s holds some very sentimental and romantic memories for me. I was proposed to here; two summers later, we walked down the aisle to this song. A bougie breakfast with a perfect mug of splosh. Frills on the food. No frills on the tea. Gorgeous. Arsenal is my favourite area in London. It’s giving Nick Hornby, Richard Curtis, Ian Wright, and reminds me of some serious romance. Gunners heaven.
